I did string arrangements for trumpet player Jukka Eskola´s forthcoming solo album. This is Jukka´s second solo disc, should be out in the first months of 2009, on the Ricky-Tick label.

A concert for kids

I´m in the process of arranging/orchestrating 50 minutes of music for a children´s concert with a youth symphony orchestra, Espoon musiikkiopiston sinfoniaorkesteri (Espoo music school symphony orchestra). The story is based on a finnish children´s character, Uppo-Nalle.

I´ve been recently involved in the movie Dark Floors, starring characters from the finnish rock-act Lordi (Eurovision song contest winners 2006). My responsibility was to orchestrate the music for a 40-piece orchestra that we recorded at Prague. The actual music is composed by Ville Riippa.

Re-Inventors is the first solo release from Helsinki-based guitarist/composer Jussi Lampela. He is also a member of Neomusic oy, a finnish music production company.
He has performed with some of the best finnish musicians and singers, including Sami Pitkämö, Emma Salokoski, Jenny Robson, Maria Ylipää, Johanna Iivanainen, Joonatan Rautio, Jukka Perko, Marzi Nyman, UMO Jazz Orchestra and Jean S.
He has arranged and composed music for various tv-series and documentaries, for example the documentary Lepakkomies ja Rajanvetäjä for finnish broadcasting company YLE, featuring violin player Pekka Kuusisto. His arrangements and compositions have been played by Lahti Symphony, UMO Jazz Orchestra and Estonian Chamber Orchestra.
Currently he is orchestrating the music for the movie Dark Floors, featuring members of the finnish rock group Lordi.

The Re-Inventors: The Story

Re-Inventors started out as my studio project in late 2005. First person to add an outside view to my songs was trumpeter Leroy Jones (more on Leroy from Wikipedia and his personal website), widely recognized master of the New Orleans music tradition. Those first recordings encouraged me to further explore the combinations of acoustic and electronic sources.
The final result is a fresh blend of modern ambient and electronic soundscapes, mixed with different jazz influences. The tunes have a relaxed atmosphere, suitable for both active listening and as a subtle background.
Other musicians collaborating include some of the very finest finnish musicians, including Jose Mänpää on vocals, Kari Ikonen on Moog synth, Mikko Innanen on baritone sax, Jussi Lehtonen on drums and Pessi Levanto on rhodes. Also Antti Hynninen provided a programmed drum track to one song.
